고지은 Jieun Ko is a writer, singer-songwriter, poet, and artist exploring grief, identity, memory, and reclamation within the Korean diaspora. Born in Seoul, Korea in September 1988, she was displaced to America through immigration at the age of two and raised on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Piscataway Conoy and Manahoac peoples (Annandale, Springfield, and Great Falls, Virginia).

Her personal essays have been published in choa magazine, Rootkeepers, and The Faraway Nearby. She is the author of With Love, Jieun, a weekly publication of memories, mournings, and reclamations. She is the singer and songwriter of the folk-soul duo, Jieun & Greg. And she is the creator of Stay Soft, Stay Open, a podcast about vulnerability, courage, and creativity.

She is the only child of her working-class immigrant parents, 곽미정 (Kwak Mijung) and 고승현 (Ko Seunghyun; 1960-2023). She lives in 포항 with her husband, Greg, and their son, Haejoon. Her name means wisdom and mercy. She is finding her way home.
