고지은 Jieun Ko is a writer, singer-songwriter, poet, and artist who lives and works in Korea. Her work explores the everchanging terrain of identity, memory, grief, and belonging as a daughter of the diaspora. Born in 서울 (Seoul, Korea) in 1988, displaced to the U.S. at the age of two, and raised by her working-class immigrant parents on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Manahoac people (Virginia), she has created a language to describe the reverberating impacts of colonization and displacement on an individual, a family, and a generation.

She is the author of the weekly publication, With Love, Jieun, the singer-songwriter of the folk-soul duo, Jieun & Greg, and the creator of the podcast, Stay Soft, Stay Open. Her work has been published by choa magazine, The Faraway Nearby, and Rootkeepers.

She is the only child of 곽미정 (Kwak Mijung) and 고승현 (Ko Seunghyun, 1960-2023). Her name means wisdom and mercy. She is finding her way home.

고지은은 부모인 곽미정과 故 고승현의 외동딸입니다. 이름 속의 '지'는 지혜로움, '은'은 은혜로움을 뜻하며, 그는 삶 속에서 안식처를 찾고 있습니다.
